Tijdens haar presentatie onderzoekt Nadia Markiewicz hoe kleding beweging kan vormgeven en de blik van het publiek kan sturen.
Nadia Markiewicz (1992, Polen) is een beeldend kunstenaar en performer die in Warschau woont en werkt. Ze werkt op het snijvlak van performance, mode en visuele cultuur. Markiewicz onderzoekt beperking vanuit een autobiografisch perspectief en put daarbij uit de surrealistische esthetiek van entertainment en massale visuele cultuur. Door performance, installatie en bewegend beeld samen te brengen, bevraagt haar werk hoe lichamen worden waargenomen, gerepresenteerd en verbeeld.
Momenteel is Nadia in residentie bij MORPHO in Antwerpen. Daar onderzoekt ze de Antwerpse modescène terwijl ze nieuw werk ontwikkelt waarin kostuum als choreografisch instrument wordt onderzocht.

During her presentation, Nadia Markiewicz examines how clothing can shape movement and direct the audience’s gaze.
Nadia Markiewicz (1992, Poland) is a visual artist and performer based in Warsaw. She works at the intersection of performance, fashion and visual culture. Markiewicz explores disability through an autobiographical lens, drawing on the surreal aesthetics of entertainment and mass visual culture. Bringing together performance, installation and moving image, her work questions how bodies are perceived, represented and imagined.
Nadia is currently in residence at MORPHO in Antwerp. There, she is researching Antwerp’s fashion scene while developing new work that investigates costume as a choreographic tool.
