Discover on Sunday 2 September more than 200 artists’ studios during the fourth edition of Open Studios, the professional studio route in Antwerp. Big names such as Luc Tuymans, Koen van den Broek and Guillaume Bijl, as well as the talents of tomorrow, will be taking a look in their studios and work processes for once.
But Open Studio’s goes beyond the studio visit. Organisers NICC (www.nicc.be) and Studio Start (www.studiostart.be) go in search of the relationship between city and artist. Where does a city attract an artist? And vice versa: why does a city need artists and artists’ initiatives? And how do they work together to create and present affordable artistic practices with international appeal?
