EN Liliane V.’s work navigates an intricate balance while oscillating between celebration as well as critique of the stereotypical portrayal of women as sex objects, seductresses and prostitutes. Liliane uses her own body as an artistic medium, primarily posing within settings that are highly staged and erotically charged. She combines her photographic work with bright neon lights, mirrors, sensual accessories adding an otherworldly edge and a sense of mystery.

While Liliane’s work around the cliche of ‘the woman’ figure is bound to endless exhibitionism, the artist herself remains elusive to the outside world.

The exhibition coincides with the premiere of the second season of Maaike Leyn’s podcast, “The Lilian-eum,” scheduled for May 4th at 11:00. This podcast delves into Liliane’s legacy, shedding light on her impact on the contemporary art world.

NL Liliane V. haar werk beweegt zich in een ingewikkelde balans, oscillerend tussen viering en kritiek op de stereotiepe voorstelling van vrouwen als lustobjecten, verleidsters en prostituees. Liliane gebruikt haar eigen lichaam als artistiek medium, voornamelijk poserend in zeer geënsceneerde en erotisch geladen settings. Ze combineert haar fotografisch werk ook met felle neonverlichting, spiegels en sensuele accessoires, waardoor een buitenaardse sfeer en een gevoel van mysterie ontstaan.

Hoewel haar werk rond het cliché van ‘de vrouw’ figuur gebonden is aan eindeloos exhibitionisme, blijft de kunstenaar zelf ongrijpbaar voor de buitenwereld.

De tentoonstelling valt samen met de première van het tweede seizoen van de podcast “The Lilian-eum” door Maaike Leyn, gepland op 4 mei om 11:00 uur. In deze podcast verkennen we het oeuvre van Liliane en krijgen we inzichten over haar invloed op de hedendaagse kunstwereld.
