RADIO MEMORANDUM is a joint initiative of the visual arts sector in Antwerp. MONEY is a multilayered event where we approach the topic from different perspectives: artistic and business-minded, political and societal, and where we present the new memorandum for visual arts in Antwerp. 

 

Timetable

• 14:00-18:00 On-going intervention by Various Artists 

Various Artists will carry out an artistic intervention throughout the day. Using a population survey, they will assess the support for culture and art in Antwerp.

 

• 14:00-15:30 session about author rights by SOFAM: inscribe via [email protected], amount of seats is limited!

Authors’ rights form an integral part of how your art work exists once it enters the world. Moral rights allow you, the artist, to decide how, where and when your work is presented. And economic rights let you be the one who decides how your works are exploited. What are the rules? What are collective rights? What is resale right? What does an authors’ rights association do? Why should I become a member?

 

Lean in during this relaxed Sunday lecture/workshop as we look at some of the words that appear in the law, then lean back and listen as SOFAM takes you through some of the basics of this fascinating topic in which legal code and creative culture intersect. There will be a particular focus on what you need to do to ensure you receive your share of collective rights: that’s additional income as an artist. Questions are welcome.

Can we earn a living in the art world?
How can we learn from each other how to share better?
Why is artistic work so often undervalued?
Is money crucial or is it the problem?

We kick off the series of Almanac activation events with a heads-on confrontation with MONEY. A variety of contributions from different chapters of the Fair Kin Arts Almanac deal with this complex theme. We unpack it through presentations, conversations, a tryout performative workshop of the Asymmetric Pay tool, and last but not least, there will be time for questions and discussions, as well as for drinks.

NL Tijdens de laatste dag (01/10, 14:00-18:00) van Publiek Park presenteert de groep RADIO MEMORANDUM ‘MONEY’. RADIO MEMORANDUM is een gezamenlijk initiatief van de beeldende kunstsector in Antwerpen. MONEY is een gelaagd evenement waarbij we het onderwerp vanuit verschillende perspectieven benaderen: artistiek en zakelijk, politiek en maatschappelijk, en waarbij we het nieuwe memorandum voor beeldende kunsten in Antwerpen presenteren. 

 

Tijdschema

• 14:00-18:00 Doorlopende interventie door Various artists
  
  Various Artists voeren gedurende de hele dag een artistieke interventie uit. Met behulp van een bevolkingsbevraging peilen ze naar de steun voor cultuur en kunst in Antwerpen.

 

• 14:00-15:30 sessie over auteursrechten door SOFAM. Inschrijven via [email protected], het aantal plaatsen is beperkt.

 

Auteursrechten maken integraal deel uit van hoe je kunstwerken bestaan in de wereld. Morele rechten bepalen dat jij, de auteur, mag beslissen waar, wannneer en hoe je werk wordt gepresenteerd. Economischerechten betekenen dat jij de persoon bent die bepaalt hoe jouw kunstwerken worden geëxploiteerd.

Wat zijn de regels? Hoe ga je hier best mee om? Wat zijn collectieve rechten? Wat is volgrecht? Wat doet een beheersmaatschappij? Waarom zou ik lid worden?

Leun even naar voren in deze ontspannen zondags-lezing/workshop terwijl we enkele woorden van de auteurswet aan het licht houden; leun dan maar weer naar achteren om te luisteren naar de basisprincipes vandit fascinerend domein waarin recht en creatieve cultuur elkaar kruisen. Met bijzondere aandacht voor hoe je jouw aandeel collectieve rechten kunt ontvangen, lees: extra inkomen voor de kunstenaar. Vragen zijn welkom.

Kunnen we een levensonderhoud verdienen in de kunstwereld?

Hoe kunnen we van elkaar leren hoe we beter kunnen delen?

Waarom wordt artistiek werk vaak onderschat?

Is geld cruciaal, of is het het probleem?

We beginnen de reeks Almanak activeringen met een frontale confrontatie met GELD. Een verscheidenheid aan bijdragen uit verschillende hoofdstukken van de Fair Kin Arts Almanak behandelen dit complexe thema. We pakken het uit door middel van presentaties, gesprekken, een try-out performatieve workshop van de Asymmetric Pay tool, en last but not least zal er tijd zijn voor vragen en discussies, evenals voor een drankje.
