Ahmet Ogut & Huib Haye van der Werf

09.05.2012 - 09.05.2012

Ahmet Ogut, Huib Haye van der Werf

The Turkish artist Ahmet Öğüt produces pseudo-documentary work which is often humorous and incisive. He investigates the patterns of social and public mouvements in urban environments and creates situations that focus on the tension between the standard presentation of history and its more personal and fragmented reconstructions. Öğüt takes the socialist history of Ghent as the starting point for his contribution to TRACK, which is entitled ‘The Castle of Vooruit’. Öğüt is sending up a gigantic helium balloon in the shape of Magritte’s floating rock, launched near the Vooruit Arts Centre.
