In deze talk verkent Bouvy schaamte als sociale constructie. Met zwarte humor en surrealistische beelden bevraagt ze de normen die bepalen welke lichamen worden geaccepteerd, gecontroleerd of uitgesloten.
Aline Bouvy is een multidisciplinaire kunstenaar die woont en werkt tussen België en Luxemburg. Dit jaar vertegenwoordigt ze Luxemburg op de 61ste Biënnale van Venetië met de nieuw in opdracht gemaakte debuutfilm La Merde. Haar werk verkent de relaties tussen lichamen, ruimtes en systemen van representatie, vanuit een feministisch perspectief en door gevestigde conventies te ondermijnen om sociale normen in vraag te stellen.
Haar praktijk richt zich op wat vaak wordt afgewezen als taboe, abject of esthetisch ongewenst. Deze elementen worden instrumenten om de morele en culturele normen die onze waarneming sturen in vraag te stellen. Bouvy’s werk nodigt bezoekers uit tot diep zintuiglijke ontmoetingen die conventionele manieren van kijken en ervaren uitdagen.

In this talk Bouvy will explore shame as a social construct, using dark humour and surreal imagery to question the norms that define which bodies are accepted, controlled, or excluded.
Aline Bouvy is a multidisciplinary artist living and working between Belgium and Luxembourg. This year, she represents Luxembourg at the 61st Venice Biennale with the newly commissioned debut film La Merde. Her work explores the relationships between bodies, spaces, and systems of representation, using a feminist perspective and the subversion of established conventions to question social norms.
Her practice engages with what is often rejected as taboo, abject, or aesthetically undesirable. These elements become tools for questioning the moral and cultural norms that govern our perceptions. Bouvy’s work invites viewers into deeply sensory encounters that challenge conventional ways of seeing and experiencing.
